When you previously installed Oracle Java Web Start (or have it installed in parallel with OpenWebStart) then .jnlp is most likley associated with "Java Web Start Launcher" program. You have to change file association on your OS to point to OpenWebStart. When click on a .jnlp Link in the browser a Opening dialog appears where you have the "Open with" option where you can select OpenWebStart javaws of your installation. Select the "Do this automatically for files like this from now on" checkbox.

Have also a look in the OWS guide on file associations:

Firefox on a mac (or any other browser, for that matter) will not enable you to override the javaws association via the "open with" except on a one-time basis. I made a video to illustrate the problem:
https://vimeo.com/551883977
here you can see, the open with feature does not have a "do this every time" option, as indicated by the prior suggestion.
Any ideas what I might be doing wrong?
Thanks!

The real solution to this problem is to use the "get info" from finder and then change the open all applications feature.

Code: Select all

has a link to a video that shows how to solve this problem on a mac.
