I installed OpenWebStart_windows-x64_1_1_7.zip and selected OWS as default for JNLP and MIME type application/x-java-jnlp-file
Opening JNLP link in IE11 does not go through OWS. It uses standard Java 8 javaws that is installed a part of Java.
The MIME is definitely "application/x-java-jnlp-file".
My question is how do I make IE use OWS instead of stock Java on this Windows 10 PC?
Any registry Guru's here?
Install not registered OWS for JNLP files?

Re: Install not registered OWS for JNLP files?
if there is already a java8 installed then OWS is registered as an alternative.
The easiest way you can change this by downloading a *.jnlp file.
Then right click on the file and chose "open with other program..."
In the popup select OpenWebStart and on the bottom check the checkbox "remember this decision/make this default"

Thanks for the quick reply, Stephan!
When I open .jnlp file it already kicks off OWS. And right clicking "Open with..." confirms that it is OWS that's default.
The problem is with MIME type "application/x-java-jnlp-file". IE11 is still using standard javaws.
