In the Security tab of the settings app there is a checkbox for "Allow user to accept JNLP security requests". It seems to default to "checked"

What is the meaning of this setting? Thanks!

From looking at the IcedTea-Web source code, this setting appears to allow the system to present a dialog to the user when a JNLP service is used but is not otherwise permitted programmatically. Setting this to true allows the user to make that security determination.

Sorry, so far we did not find the time to document all features and flags which are available in ITW and OWS.
If you need to know more details about anything please feel free to ask

Yes, your interpretation is correct.
I had to look it up myself as I haven't stumbled over this feature of ITW yet. :)
